If you have a child under 13 who is ready for an email address, setting up a Gmail account is quick and easy. Gmail is a free email service through Google that your child can access on the web, with a smartphone, or on a tablet.

When you set up your child's Gmail account, you'll need to first download the Family Link app, which offers parental controls so parents can decide on the parameters for the account.

Gmail accounts for kids under 13 are similar to adult accounts, but there are some significant differences that offer more protection. Kids won't see any ads, they won't receive spam emails, they can't automatically forward emails to another email address, they can't use Google+ features, and they can't turn on experimental Gmail features. Kids also can't give another person access to their email account.

1. Download the Family Link app.
2. Open the app, and in the top right corner of the scree, tape Create or +.
3. Follow the instructions on the screen to create your child's account.
4. Once the account is set up, a confirmation will appear on the screen.

1. Go to your Gmail account and tap Settings at the top of the inbox.
2. Tap the Accounts and Import tab.
3. Next to the Check mail from other accounts option, tap Add a mail account.
4. Enter your child's email address and password to import.

1. Open the email you want to block.
2. In the top right of the email, tap More.
3. Tap Block [sender]
4. If you block someone by mistake or change your mind, you can follow the same steps to unblock them.
